Celebrating all music and transcending borders, Soundweavings explores cross-connections between music makers of traditional global music, as well as Western classical music. The program is centered around both individual project development and creative collaboration in ensemble opportunities led by acclaimed faculty experienced in cross-cultural collaborations.
Description
With the freedom to focus on artistic process and structure your time around the needs of your project, you'll receive artistic inspiration from renowned global artists and peers in a safe sharing environment. Program highlights include:
- Focus on creative exploration and experimentation through peer- and mentor-led collaboration, building shared frameworks for discussion, music-making, and listening.
- Dedicated time and space to research, develop, and create your own project: take risks, explore new ideas and practices to elevate your creative practices.
- Faculty led workshops on aspects of the creative process, concert curation and career development.
- Joint faculty and participant performance opportunities.
- Recordings of public performances for your archival use.
- Limited demo recording sessions with Professional Training Program Audio Engineers.
- 24 hour access to a studio.
- Outdoor group activities with faculty and peers.
- Opportunities to engage with other artistic disciplines at concerts & program events.
Requirements
This program is open to national and international applicants, including individual musicians and ensembles. It is suited to post-secondary students, as well as early- and mid-career artists who have reached an advanced level of artistic accomplishment.
Applicants should have a demonstrated record of musical exploration, performance, or creation on traditional global music instruments and/or Western classical instruments. A pre-determined project is not a condition of acceptance.
Participants must be available to attend the program and elements for its entire duration; variable participation dates will not be considered.
