'Where We Are' Exhibit
Where We Are brings together abstract landscapes and florals painted over the past several years. Inspired by a memory, a moment or an emotion, each painting is created intuitively. Landscapes evoke a sense of place, while florals reflect the passing of time. Together, the paintings explore the connection between our environment and our inner lives, where we find ourselves physically and emotionally.
Kelly Dean is a Canadian artist based in St. Albert, Alberta. Working primarily in acrylic, she creates intuitive abstract landscapes and florals that explore feeling, memory, place and the passing of time. Her practice also includes exploratory series in watercolour and pen.
Raised in a small town north of Edmonton, Dean draws inspiration from the Alberta prairies and her mom’s garden. She graduated in 2013 with a degree in Visual Communication Design from the Alberta University of the Arts in Calgary.
Dean has participated in Art From the Unknown, Whyte Avenue Art Walk, Strathearn Art Walk and Leduc Art Walk. Her first solo exhibition Where We Are, will be presented at Wild Skies Gallery in Edmonton.
