We Are Water and Light: Edmonton Chinese Writing Club Anthology Launch 2026

Litfest is pleased to invite you to the book launch of the Edmonton Chinese Writing Club’s new anthology: We Are Water and Light: Anti-Racism Stories Rooted in Chinese Wisdom and Other Asian Traditions

For too long, the stories of Chinese Canadians and other Asian communities in Edmonton have been pushed to the margins. This anthology brings together 28 writers who explore identity, belonging, cultural memory, and resilience in the face of anti-Asian racism. Inspired by Daoist principles of harmony and non-confrontation, these pieces move beyond narratives of victimhood to reveal strength, transformation, and connection. Blending lived experience with archival research, the anthology challenges stereotypes, builds bridges, and illuminates the deep ties between contemporary struggles and ancient Chinese and Asian traditions.

Presented in partnership with the Edmonton Chinese Writing Club

This event takes place Friday, October 16, 2026 at 7:00 pm at the Rice Theatre at the Citadel Theatre
