“Too Much:” Writing the Parts of Yourself You Were Told to Hide with Rachel Phan
Join Rachel Phan for this generative nonfiction workshop about shame, visibility, race, ambition, femininity, anger, desire, and “likability.”
In this workshop, participants will:
– Write about a trait they’ve been criticized for
– Reframe “flaws” or “problems” as narrative engines
– Explore contradiction and complexity in memoir
– Learn how to balance vulnerability with humour
The workshop combines memoir craft with social commentary and identity exploration.
This workshop has a capacity of 14 participants.
This event takes place Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 1:00 pm in the Community Room at the Stanley A Milner Library
