EDMONTON- Edmonton's Shadow Theatre, a company committed to the development and presentation of new Canadian plays, proudly starts their season with the world premiere of a Canadian Celtic musical, originally seen at the 2023 Fringe Festival, now expanded and re-worked for the Varscona Theatre stage, where Shadow Theatre resides. With new songs, music, choreography and now featuring a three piece band, this is an extended version of the Fringe hit, exploring love and family with a Celtic heartbeat.

A girl in search of what it means to live a fulfilling life seeks advice from her granny who shares stories of her past growing up in Edinburgh, Scotland. As her granny’s memory begins to be stolen by dementia, the girl struggles to keep their connection and is ultimately left to question what is fiction in her stories. Morningside Road is a sweeping tale exploring what happens when responsibility robs us of the romance our hearts crave.

Morningside Road features Mhairi Berg, Cameron Kneteman,
Maureen Rooney and Musicians Simon Abbott, Viktoria Grynenko, Curtis den Otter.

Morningside Road is Directed by Lana Michelle Hughes, with Music Director Simon Abbott, Choreographer Sarah Dowling, Set Designer Daniel vanHeyst, Lighting Designer Lieke den Bakker, Costume Designer Kat Evans, Stage Manager Tim Yakimec, Associate Sound Designer Nick Rose, Dramaturg John Hudson, Intimacy Director Kristen Welker, Dialect Coach Josh Meredith, Production Manager Tiana McLean.

Morningside Road tickets and Shadow Theatre Season Subscriptions are now on sale at shadowtheatre.org
