The Invisible Practice invites you to a playground for the senses!

The Invisible Practice proudly presents Light+Vibrotactile, a series of playfully interactive installations that will surprise and intrigue. The exhibition is free and open to the public starting January 17 until January 31, 2026.

Light+Vibrotactile, or L+V for short, is a technical exploration where we challenge ourselves to consider:

“How can the most poetic expressions of the world be conveyed through sight and touch, rather than sound?”

Ambrose University is pleased to present Shadowlands, an exhibition by painter Cindy Bouwers, on view from January 9 to May 30, 2025, at Ambrose University, 150 Ambrose Circle SW, Calgary. Edmonton International Jazz Festival is bringing Headlining Japanese piano sensation Hiromi's Sonicwonder to Edmonton in 2026 in their long-awaited return to the newly renovated Horowitz Theatre on the UAlberta campus for one night only on Friday June 26 at 7:30 p.m. Limited tickets are on sale now.

SkirtsAfire Festival

SkirtsAfire is Edmonton’s theatre and multidisciplinary arts festival featuring women and non-binary artists who are comfortable in a space that centres the experiences of women. In conjunction with International Women’s Day, their 10-day programming runs each March at various venues in Edmonton.

This year's festival will be held March 5-15 in various venues in the Old Strathcona District. Festival passes are on sale now!

Cryoscapes

Photographer Nigel Midwinter, in the exhibition Cryoscapes, explores the tension between fragility and force within Alberta’s winter landscapes. Shot on the frozen surface of Abraham Lake, these black-and-white photographs transform cracked ice, pressure ridges, and trapped methane bubbles into abstract forms.

In Process

In Process is an ever changing group exhibit featuring six Calgary abstract artists exploring ideas of change, transition, and the creative process. Working in various mediums and styles, these artists use abstraction to express emotion, memory, and transformation through mark-making, texture, and experimentation. The show runs from  January 6 -31 with the artists Claudia Lorenz, Susan Hull, Dixie Baum, Ghislaine Cleiren, Anne-Marie Gunst, and Barbara Straka. Artist reception Friday January 9  from 6:30 pm to 9:00pm.
