Seeking New Operations Manager, Korora Choirs

The Korora Choir Association is currently accepting applications for the position of Operations Manager. Reporting to our Executive Director, the role of Operations Manager is a full-time position with responsibility for the day-to-day operations of Korora Choirs as well as concert and tour production. This position is a hybrid role, with most of the work being performed remotely but with some on-site work required for choir events like open rehearsals, auditions, and concerts.
 
The ideal candidate for this position has exceptional organizational skills and is a self-directed worker. An excellent opportunity for an early- to mid-career arts administrator, the Operations Manager role will provide the opportunity to work closely with Korora Choirs’ world-class staff to continue developing a strong and innovative program. The candidate must be passionate about the role of the arts in building community. The Operations Manager will be responsible for supporting and growing Korora Choirs’ program offerings. A qualified candidate will be calm under pressure, good with people, and able to strategize and prioritize their tasks in a busy environment.

The Korora Choir Association is a community-based nonprofit organization in Edmonton, Alberta, which grows community and artistic expression in people of all ages through excellence-driven choral music education and performance opportunities. In its twenty-eight years, the Korora Choirs family has grown from a single youth choir to a family of seven choirs for singers of all ages, with over 340 members in the current season.

Job Responsibilities

The Operations Manager is responsible for the following;

  • Managing new and returning members of the organization, using an online membership management platform, including some management of membership fee payment
  • Handling and directing communications from the public and from choir membership
  • Liaising with the public and artistic staff regarding performance requests
  • Coordinating logistics for concerts, tours, and other events presented by the organization
  • Booking rehearsal and concert venues
  • In cooperation with the Social Media & Promotions Coordinator, promote choirs, choir events, and choir tours
  • Serving as a front-line ambassador in working with key volunteers and with members
  • Assisting with project and foundation grant applications as required
  • Providing administrative support for fundraising efforts and fund development strategy
  • Monitoring systems of management and evaluating the effectiveness of processes
  • Contributing to work on operational policy by documenting processes and evaluating proposed and approved policies in practice
  • Providing regular reports to the Executive and Artistic Directors as required
  • Assisting with movement/lifting of equipment/furniture on-site (approx. 25 lbs)
  • Some evening and weekend commitments are required due to the nature of a performing arts organization’s work.

 Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related area of study (i.e. arts, music, administration) or equivalent experience 
  • A minimum of two years experience in a related field
  • Familiarity with Google Drive is an asset
  • Experience using a CRM platform or a membership management platform
  • Ability to work independently and with good self-direction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence in balancing, prioritizing, and managing several areas of responsibility
  • Interest and/or experience in choral music and/or performing arts is a plus
  • The employee must provide their own home office space, including phone and internet; Korora Choirs will provide a computer and any needed software, as well as a completed T2200 form (Conditions of Employment) annually, which will allow for certain tax deductions for use-of-home and other such employment-related expenses

Salary Range: $48,000-$53,000, commensurate with education level and experience
