New Board Chair appointed to the AFA

Date: Apr 10, 2024

On behalf of the AFA, I would like to share an important update regarding the AFA Board of Directors. Effective April 10, 2024, Cynthia Moore has been appointed as the new AFA Board Chair. Cynthia assumes this role following Paul Baay’s appointment as Chair of the Board of Governors at the Banff Centre.

Cynthia comes into the role with a strong background in the arts and is well prepared to lead the AFA in continuing the important work it does in supporting the arts community. This includes leading the board in implementing the increased funding provided to the AFA by government that will see the AFA reach a record budget of over $39 million in the next three years.

While we look forward to the future, we also want to take a moment to thank Paul Baay for the commitment and leadership he has provided during his time on the board and as board chair. He departs the board leaving the AFA well-positioned to continue and build on the important work it does in supporting Alberta’s art sector. We wish him all the best in his new role.
