The Embodied Self

January 14 - March 31, 2023

As one of the youngest female Canadian sculptors working with welded public art, Sinéad Ludwig-Burgess will be presenting her sculptures in a solo art exhibition at the Okotoks Art Gallery from January 14- March 31, 2023.

The exhibition titled, The Embodied Self, will showcase a series of mixed media sculptures that represent universal experiences relevant to the human condition such as emotional awareness and the unfolding of the human consciousness.

The sculptures in this series act as an allegory of the human spirit embodying perseverance and strength, that also question what it means to embody, “wholeness” — emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually.

Sinéad Ludwig-Burgess works and resides in Calgary, AB predominantly creating sculptures that consist of welded steel and mixed media. The majority of the art in Ludwig-Burgess’ portfolio incorporates the use of scrap metal and recycled materials where she enjoys the process of repurposing these items to make environmentally conscious sculptures.

Sinéad is interested in creating works that reference the human body and continues to follow her passion exploring the limitless potential of metal.
