Call to Edmonton and Area* Artists - Heritage Valley Park and Ride Public Art Project
The Heritage Valley Park and Ride public art call, open to professional artists residing in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region*, is held in accordance with the City of Edmonton policy "Percent for Art to Provide and Encourage Art in Public Areas" (C458C).
The Edmonton Arts Council, on behalf of the City of Edmonton, seeks an Edmonton-based artist or artist team to create an artwork to be installed Summer 2019 at the Heritage Valley Park and Ride Transit Centre. Emerging artists and artists not currently represented in the collection are encouraged to apply.
Applied artwork mediums can include, but are not limited to, murals (directly onto brick or mural panels), low relief sculpture, and mosaic. Low relief sculpture should be a maximum of 3 inches from the wall. Integrated artwork is not acceptable (e.g. brick work, fountains, or other media that alter the wall design and construction).
Artwork concepts that relate to water, unique Northern Alberta seasonal colours and ecosystems, and sense of genius loci or "spirit of place" may be preferred due to the facility's design intention. Each artwork zone is approximately 13 metres wide x 4 metres high.
$31,000.00 CAD (maximum, all inclusive)
Deadline for Submissions:
4:30 pm MST on Monday, April 30, 2018
