Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge:
Call for Independent Indigenous Project Curator

Start Date: Immediate

In acknowledgement that Casa operates on the traditional lands of the Blackfoot people, we endeavor to honour them by ensuring that there is a permanent venue for indigenous artists at the facility. To this end, The Gallery at Casa has secured funding for a dedicated Indigenous project space, and are looking for an independent indigenous curator to arrange exhibitions. Casa is a 42,000 ft2 educational and gallery facility located in the heart of downtown Lethbridge, Alberta. The project space is a large showcase in a high traffic area on the second floor of the Casa facility. The exhibitions will run in tandem with those of the gallery program, during five calendar blocks per year.

This initiative is a 5-year pilot project, and the contract will be yearly with the possibility of renewal. The first exhibition will be occurring September 10, 2022. The Project Space is 14 feet long, 2.25 feet deep, and 6.5 feet high. Exhibiting artists selected by the curator will be paid a CARFAC exhibition fee of $500.  The independent curator will work with the Gallery Manager to prepare administrative items like contracts, exhibition labels, printed didactics, and promotional materials.
