Strathcona Contemporary Exhibition

Date: Apr 11, 2024

Strathcona County is excited to unveil the scheduled events for the Strathcona Contemporary Exhibition (formerly Strathcona Salon).

This year from April 26 to June 22, 2024, we will be celebrating our vibrant local artists and artisans in a series of five engaging social events and an amazing exhibition. These events are all free and open to everyone.

  • Strathcona Contemporary Exhibition: April 26 to June 22

Visit the exhibition at Gallery@501 throughout the exhibition and vote for the People’s Choice Awards – the top three artists with the most votes will be recognized at the Artists’ Pecha Kucha event.

  • Artists’ Meet & Greet: May 4

Meet fellow artists, art enthusiasts and potential collaborators. This afternoon event will be filled with art and conversation.

  • Youth Gallery Celebration: May 9

This opening reception celebrates the artwork of the award-winning youth artists from the Art Society of Strathcona County’s 2024 Student Art Competition.

  • Artist Workshops (18Y+): May 25

An afternoon of hands-on creativity with two artists featured in the Strathcona Contemporary exhibition. Pre-registration is required.

  • Arts & Culture Information Panel: June 1

Learn about exciting opportunities available for County artists. A panel of arts administrators and community activators will share information about different programs, grants, and resources for you to grow your art career locally.

  • Artists’ Pecha Kucha: June 7

Seven artists from the Strathcona Contemporary exhibition will share their stories with the community and the annual art acquisitions (hosted in collaboration with the Arts and Culture Council of Strathcona County) will be announced.

Strathcona Contemporary welcomes all creators and community members to join this enriching celebration of art, fostering a supportive environment for growth and expression. The annual art acquisition program is supported by the Art Collection Advisory Committee, a group of citizen artists, curators and professionals who guide Strathcona County’s permanent art collection and provide feedback on public art projects.
