Call for Artists: Join the Deep Freeze Lamppost Cozy Challenge

Deep Freeze: A Byzantine Winter Festival invites artists to take part in the Lamppost Cozy Challenge, a fast-paced, joy-filled competition that transforms 118 Avenue into a glowing outdoor gallery. Working within the festival’s 2026 theme, Under the Stars, selected teams will have 24 hours to “Deck Out a Lamppost” with an imaginative, site-specific installation enjoyed by more than 50,000 festival-goers.

Teams of one to three artists or builders are welcome to apply. Installations begin Saturday, January 17 at 11:00 AM and must be completed by Sunday, January 18 at 11:00 AM for judging. Prizes include $300 for First Place, $200 for Second Place, and $100 for People’s Choice.
