Ukrainian Resource Development Centre Accepting Applications for Annual Arts and Music Awards

The Ukrainian Resource and Development Centre at MacEwan University is excited to announce that we are accepting applications for our annual Arts and Music Awards!

These awards and bursaries are aimed at supporting young new media artists, writers, or musicians undertaking projects with a Ukrainian or Ukrainian-Canadian focus. 
Do note that most awards are open to students studying at any post-secondary institution and practicing artists, writers, and musicians. They are not limited to MacEwan University students. Artists, writers, and musicians from across Alberta are encouraged to apply. Many of the awards have a deadline of November 30, 2021. 

The five awards are decribed below: 

The Anna Pidruchney Award for Young Writers ($1,300) is available annually to a writer for a work that includes Ukrainian Canadian content (i.e. Subject matter, theme, character or settings. The Ukrainian Canadian content may be from any historical period or country). Previous recipients of this award are not eligible. (2 awards available for 2021). The application deadline is November 30.

The William and Mary Kostash Award for Media Arts ($1,000) is awarded every second year for a project in film, video or new media that examines questions of Ukrainian-Canadian identity as it is formed in the 21st century in local and global contexts. Works in progress and/or completed works will be considered. Drama, documentary, experimental, educational, and other genres are acceptable. Open to students and independent film, video, or new media producers. (1 award available for 2021). The application deadline is November 30.

The Roman Soltykewych Music Scholarship ($1,000) is available to applicants (individual or group) determined to pursue further studies in the field of Ukrainian choral or vocal music. (1 award available). The application deadline is November 30.

The Serge Eremenko Music Award ($500) is available annually to any qualified applicant (individual or group) planning to pursue further studies in the field of Ukrainian music. Courses of study or workshops, in progress or recently completed, will be considered. (1 award available). The application deadline is November 30.

The Ukrainian Millennium Foundation Award ($1,000) is available to MacEwan University students enrolled in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications who are interested in pursuing and developing interest in the field of Ukrainian music. (5 awards available). Application deadline September 30.
