Administrative Assistant

Deadline: March 1, 2023

The Edmonton New Shadow Theatre Society is entering a period of transition on stage and off, taking new challenges and planning for the future of the company, the audience and the shows. We invite applications from dedicated arts administrators to help us along our journey.

This will be, initially a summer position, 30 hours per week for a 16-week period. Pending confirmation of future funding, and performance of the summer Administrative Assistant, the position could be extended into a year-round contract.

The Administrative Assistant will learn the duties and responsibilities of the General Manager, and relieve some of those tasks through the spring and summer of 2023. Examples include:

  • Ticket sales management
  • Donor database management
  • Budgeting
  • Grant writing
  • Support for play production (budget management, audience development)
    • CAEA and PACT contracts, reporting
    • Program design and liaison with publisher
    • Box Office and production reporting, rights agreements
  • Client outreach, including work on newsletters and event-specific promotions

The successful candidate will work closely with the General Manager and Artistic Director to learn the nuances of administration within this company specifically. New ideas, a fresh approach and current best-practices are welcome!

We prefer candidates with an arts administration education or background, but are open to applicants who demonstrate a keen interest in the theatre and a willingness to learn.

This position is being supported by the Canada Summer Jobs Program.

Compensation is $18 per hour based on a 30-hour work week.

Interested applicants should send resume and cover letter to generalmanager@shadowtheatre.org.

Only those chosen for an interview will be contacted.
