Calgary harpist Gianetta Baril has devoted her life to sharing the transformative power of music, performing in an array of spectacular locales across the world like the Rudolphinum in Prague and on the Selaron Steps in Rio de Janeiro. When COVID stopped all live performances in 2020, she turned a huge van into a self-contained rolling home/concert hall and took the comfort of live harp music on the road in Alberta and BC - stopping wherever people were in need of hope and inspiration. After 6,000 km and 33 concerts, Gianetta returned to Calgary at the end of October.
“Over the winter months, I have both missed the audiences and the joy of sharing music,” says Gianetta. “But I used that time to plan my next journey across Canada and built a new vehicle better suited to the long journey. My scheduled departure date is April 20th, and to kick off the next journey, I am presenting a livestream concert on Sunday, April 18th from the Polaris Centre for the Performing Arts."
With restrictions now easing, Gianetta has invited her friends to share the stage. She will be joined by the Foothills Brass Quintet, saxophonist extraordinaire Jeremy Brown, dazzling pianist Mark Limacher, and the sparkling soprano Hannah Pagenkopf to bring comfort, courage, a few stories, and the big reveal of her new van.
Harp To Heart Cross Country Tour Launch Concert will be live-streamed online at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 18, 2021.
Tickets are pay-what-you-want with a minimum of $15 for concert access. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.polariscentre.ca.
