New Non-Profit Needs Creative Help! $200 for logo winner!
What is the New Buffalo Education Institute?
A new not-for-profit organization is being formed in Alberta that would provide a support system for post-secondary business students. This organization would help students build networks and open doors to ensure success at business school and in subsequent careers. This organization would take on an educational role for businesses and educational institutions looking to engage Indigenous business students in a reciprocal and meaningful manner.
Specifically what will this organization do?
Provide business specific skills training to students in areas such as resume writing and interview skills
Connect students to mentorship opportunities
Create an intra-institution and cross-institution network of Indigenous business students who can learn from each other, provide invaluable connections, and support each other while in post-secondary and into their careers
Provide opportunities to learn about career choices and meet businesses and potential employers
Facilitate meaningful co-op and internship opportunities
Provide career transition support as students near the end of their programs
What will come from this?
Indigenous Business Students reaching their goals through business education
Creating fresh and creative approaches to business that can provide diverse opportunities and stimulate the economy
Producing long-term benefits to Indigenous students in programs and in their careers. These long-term benefits may be realized by Indigenous Communities as a whole.
Create strong role models for the next generation of Indigenous youth
Supporting business programs to adopt “Indigenous Ways of Knowing” into their curriculum if they have not done so already.
Who is It?

The volunteers are: Ruby Littlechild, Evert Poor, Joseph Jobin, Aroon Sequeira and Liz Herbert.
