Deadline: Dec 8, 2018 - 7:30 pm
Festival City Winds (Adult Concert Bands), under the direction of Artistic Director Wendy J. Grasdahl, invites you to meditate and hope for Peace In Our Time and escape the various tragedies taking place throughout the world through music on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 7:30 PM in the Robert Tegler Centre, Concordia University of Edmonton (7128 Ada Boulevard – 73 St. south of 112 Ave.). The evening concert will feature all four Festival City Winds’ concert bands – Novice Band; Intermediate 2 Band; Intermediate 1 Band; Advanced Band – each performing their own selections. The bands will be conducted by Wendy J. Grasdahl and Dr. Eila Peterson. There will be a reception following the concert as well as door prizes.
The evening’s programme offers a respite and break from all of the hectic headlines happening in the world today with some holiday favourites, and some quiet, meditative music. There will be clever arrangements of Christmas classics – I’ll Be Home for Christmas, White Christmas, Noël Nouvelet, It Came Upon A Midnight Clear, and a medley of other popular carols in Sammy Nestico’s A Fireside Christmas. Continue to sit back, meditate, and leave the cares of the world behind you during Yesterday and Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears, as well as selections from the standard concert band canon of marches, waltzes, and other repertoire to inspire hope that we will see Peace In Our Time. The evening ends with the audience clapping along to Strauss’ Radetzky March.
Tickets for Peace In Our Time are $12 for Adults and $5 for Children (12 and under), and can be purchased at the door.
