FAVA FEST: Film and Video Arts Festival

Date: Mar 13, 2018

FAVA's 7th Annual FAVA FEST: Film and Video Arts Festival springs into action April 17-21, 2018.

During the week we’ll showcase films by FAVA filmmakers in Best of the Fest screenings with a diverse range of content and style.

We’re partnering with DedFest on Thursday night to bring a screening of Edmonton cult favourite Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II, where the audience can get dolled up in their best and/or goriest 80s prom attire complete with costume contest.

We’re thrilled to announce that our Friday Night Feature Event is a 25th Anniversary screening of Two Bothers, A Girl and a Gun, with a rare opportunity to see it in 35mm print. The screening will be followed by a Q & A with filmmaker Bill Hornecker and actor Shaun Johnston (Heartland)Bill and Shaun are the recipients of our Outstanding Achievement Award in 2018 and we’ll be toasting their careers on Friday night as well.

Closing night finds us at a new location, the 16th floor of the Epcor Tower (10423 101 Street NW) for our FAVA GALA where we will reveal the recipients of our Awards of Excellence and Production Awards. Mix and mingle with Northern Alberta’s filmmakers, take a gamble on our silent auction and hang out at the whiskey bar. After the awards you can try your hand at video jamming, let loose on the dance floor, and admire Edmonton’s downtown skyline at night.

Join us as we shine a spotlight on film, video, and media art in Northern Alberta.
