Competition opens for the 2018 Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Emerging Artist Awards

The Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Arts Awards Foundation is seeking applications for its $10,000, 2018 Emerging Artist Awards. Artists from all disciplines including performing, visual, design and literary arts are eligible to apply. Emerging artists are considered those of any age who have completed their training or apprenticeship and are in the early stages of their professional arts career.

Up to 10 artists will receive the cash award and medal to be presented by the Foundation’s patron, Her Honour, the Honourable Lois Mitchell, CM, AOE, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, at a ceremony in Edmonton June 1, 2018. An adjudication panel convened by The Banff Centre will select recipients.

The competition deadline is midnight, February 9, 2018. Artists can find full competition details and apply online at artsawards.ca.

The Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Arts Awards Foundation is a charitable organization that celebrates Alberta’s rich cultural fabric by honouring its most accomplished artists and supporting professional artists in the early stages of their careers. It offers up to three Distinguished Artist Awards of $30,000 each in odd years and up to 10 Emerging Artist Awards of $10,000 each in even years.
