Date: Sep 1, 2023

September represents a time of celebration in Alberta. Kicking off with Alberta Day, September is Month of the Artist in Alberta and Alberta Culture Days.
This is a time to celebrate all things Albertan and a time to recognize and engage with the artistic work of Albertan artists throughout the province.
Month of the Artist
September is Month of the Artist in Alberta. Alberta is the first and remains the only province in Canada to dedicate a month to artists. It is an annual celebration of artists, and the value they bring to the province, both socially and economically.
Join us this September during the fifth annual Month of the Artist in Alberta to recognize and support local artists.
Month of the Artist activities
Albertans are encouraged to take part in as many events as possible and support Alberta artists during Alberta's Month of the Artist. This includes exhibits from the 2022 and 2023 Artists in Residence!
-
Sharon Rose Kootenay, current Artist in Residence, is exhibiting her work in the Lower Lobby at the Southern Jubilee Auditorium now until December 7, 2023.
- Aeris Osborne, previous Artist in Residence, is exhibiting her residency project in the Kassa Lobby at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium now until December 7, 2023.
Alberta Day
Alberta became a province on September 1, 1905. In recognition of this anniversary and in celebration of our province’s unique spirit, culture and heritage, the Government of Alberta designated September 1 as Alberta Day.
Alberta Day is a celebration of everything Alberta, from the past to the present. Enjoy free family-friendly fun at government events in Calgary and Edmonton on September 2.
Alberta Culture Days
Alberta Culture Days is an opportunity to discover, experience and celebrate arts and culture through local events and activities, in person and online across the province.
Last year, more than 500 communities from coast to coast participated in National Culture Days to increase awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities.
Celebrate Alberta Culture Days and Alberta Day with an event near you!
