Call for Submissions | Inside-Out: Casa Summer Exhibition
- Shadowboxes: May 22, 2021
- Artist Kiosks: May 29, 2021
- Summer Salon Window Display: June 11, 2021
The Gallery at Casa is calling for submissions for our summer exhibition Inside-Out. The Main Gallery space at Casa will be closed to the public until September, so we are creating an exhibition program that will be featured in Rotary Square, the exterior plaza on the east side of the building. This will also allow for safe, physical distancing in the outdoors. The exhibition will run from July 3 to August 31.
There are 3 ways we are inviting you to participate; take part in our shadow box project, submit an idea for an installation in the Artist Kiosks or submit a 2D work for inclusion in our Summer Salon window display. Please feel free to submit to all 3 by following the Submission Guidelines.
The Gallery at Casa will create 4 wooden shadow boxes, attached at eye-level to the Casa flagpoles adjacent to Rotary Square. These boxes will measure 18x20, and will be 5 inches deep with a plexiglass front. We are calling for 4 artists that would like to customize one of the shadow boxes. Due to the nature of the project, and the siting of work in a high traffic area, the work will not be insured, nor will the Gallery at Casa be liable for any damage. We feel that this component of risk and reward is an integral element of the project. Artists will each receive a $300 honorarium.
Submission Guidelines: To be considered for the project, please send a simple proposal consisting of a brief bio, examples of past work, and a brief letter outlining a potential idea.
Proposals should be sent via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please use “Inside-Out Shadow Box” as the subject line. Please email your submission by May 22.
The Gallery at Casa is seeking 2 artists to create installations or displays in our two Artist Kiosks. The Kiosks are repurposed sea-cans measuring 8’ X 10’ that are equipped with slat walls, lighting tracks, power outlets and solid surface flooring. They will be open during the day, and locked in the evening. Each artist selected will be paid an honorarium of $500.
Submission Guidelines: To be considered for the project, please send a simple proposal consisting of a brief bio, examples of past work, and a brief letter outlining your idea.
Proposals should be sent via email to email@example.com. Please use “Inside-Out Kiosks” as the subject line. Please email your submission by May 29.
Summer Salon Window Display:
This is un-juried and thematically neutral exhibition that will be displayed in the large east windows facing Rotary Square. We will be accepting one artwork from all artists who want to participate (unless selected for other projects). All 2D work, provided it is sensitive to a broad range of audiences, will be welcome. The show will be hung salon-style on easels and tables, and we will accommodate as many artists as possible. All artists will be paid an honorarium dependent on the number of participants.
Submission Guidelines: We will be accepting one piece of work from individuals.
If you are interested in participating in the Summer Salon, please send an image of the completed work you would like to submit to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please use “Summer Salon” in the subject line.
Please email your submission by June 11. As well, you must provide a brief bio and an artist statement of a few lines. All artists who send their full submission will be forwarded logistical details about safe drop-off times and procedures. We will accept as many artists as we can, on a first-come basis, but due to space constraints, we may have a limit.
Early submissions are encouraged.
