Call for Artists - Recycle Yard Mural (City of St. Albert)

An exciting opportunity to celebrate community, creativity and care for the environment exists at The City of St. Albert! The City is inviting Alberta-based artists to submit qualifications for the painting of a mural on the office seacan of the Mike Mitchell Recycling Depot.

We are seeking an artist or artist team who can create an artwork that highlights the importance of recycling, protecting nature and working together for a healthier community.

The chosen artist or artist team will be required to engage in-person with staff and users of the local recycle yard to understand shared values of sustainability. 

Artist Fee: $18,000 + GST (inclusive of materials).

Submission Deadline: April 26, 2026, 11:59 p.m. MST 
Project start date: May 11, 2026 
Completion and Installation: August 16, 2026 

Location: The Mike Mitchell Recycling Depot is located at 7 Chevigny Street, St. Albert, AB.

Eligibility:
This opportunity is open to visual artists residing in Alberta. Artists are expected to collaborate effectively with the project team to coordinate and facilitate community engagement, concept development, and the creation of the mural.

Preference will be given to artists who have demonstrated experience in muralism, working collaboratively with project teams and managing similar sized budgets.
