The Alberta Society of Artists is proud to present “Meditation”, a solo show featuring Yu Chen, running June 8 – August 20, 2022 at the ASA Gallery in Calgary, #222, 1235 – 26th Ave. SE. Gallery hours are Wednesdays through Saturdays 10am – 4pm, closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesdays.
“Meditation” features paintings of Buddhist bracelets by Yu Chen. Buddhist bracelets emphasize virtue and positive energy and represent the aspiration of people to live better lives. They are bound heavily with our awe and admiration for nature. “The process of creating these paintings not only has been a mental pursuit of peace and serenity but also reminds me of the strong connection I have with my family and culture”, says Chen.
Chen focuses on Eastern subject matter which she depicts in a western realistic style bringing together her love of art and Asian culture.
