"Joal Kamps - Backstage & Up Close" premieres March 26 at 1 p.m.
Recorded at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, the concert will feature six original songs by Flint & Feather. The video will also showcase the auditorium to provide an artist’s perspective of the venue.
“Many artists in Alberta are questioning how, and where, they fit in during this unprecedented time. My sincere hope is that viewers of this short film genuinely come away with the understanding that art is work, it connects people, and therefore it is invaluable and essential to our individual and societal wellbeing – and that they go out and support the Arts as able.”
Joal Kamps, Alberta’s Artist in Residence
Part of Joal Kamps’ role as Alberta’s arts ambassador is to promote the value of arts and artists in the province. This includes engaging with various communities to share perspectives and to offer an inside look at the artistic process.
Communities and organizations that wish to have the Artist in Residence attend a virtual event to talk about the arts in Alberta can submit a request through the Artist in Residence web page on alberta.ca.
- The province is supporting artists and arts organizations through resources such as the Pivot Online: A Toolkit for Artists and Non-profit Organizations, and partnership programs like the Alberta Spotlight online concert series.
- In 2020, 83 per cent agree that arts contribute to quality of life and 77 per cent attended arts activities or events (Survey of Albertans).
