Mel Kirby
The last concert in our season: Immortal Bach on Saturday May 6 will be Mel Kirby's final concert as Artistic Director of The Festival Chorus after 32 years!
Mel has decided to pursue other interests and artistic endeavours after three immensely rewarding and innovative decades with The Chorus. With the announcement of his retirement, we also look to the future and our 65th season as we begin the search for a new Artistic Director.
“For now, with one last performance, we will pause and applaud Mel for all he has done to lift our hearts and minds. We warmly welcome members of the public and arts community to attend to illustrate a collective gratitude for three decades of dedication.” Cam Schneider, The Festival Chorus, board president.
Kirby is a pillar of the local and provincial arts community, having worked with other esteemed organizations like The Calgary Opera. He has over 30 years of experience as a performer, teacher, and conductor.
There will be a special reception following the concert.
