AFA to Welcome New Board Members

    On December 4, government announced it is appointing five new directors to the Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) board to fill upcoming vacancies, with their terms beginning on January 11, 2020.

    “The programs and services provided by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts are part of our commitment to the arts sector. The important work of the foundation will benefit from the experience and leadership of new board members. We thank the outgoing board members for their service and commitment to the arts.”

    The five new directors have a variety of backgrounds and experiences that will provide different perspectives from the arts, philanthropy and business sectors. The appointments include a new chair and vice chair, once those two terms expire in April 2020. In the meantime, current Chair, Liam Oddie will continue to lead the board until his term ends in April. 

    The following people have been appointed:

    • Mary Rozsa de Coquet, incoming chair (effective April 15, 2020), has been appointed for a term of three years (Jan. 11, 2020 to Jan. 10, 2023).
    • Paul R. Baay, incoming vice chair (effective April 15, 2020), has been appointed for a term of two years (Jan. 11, 2020 to Jan. 10, 2022).
    • Peter Kiss has been appointed for a term of two years (Jan. 11, 2020 to Jan. 10, 2022).
    • Maryann Chichak has been appointed for a term of two years (Jan. 11, 2020 to Jan. 10, 2022).
    • Tom Jackson has been appointed for a term of three years (Jan. 11, 2020 to Jan. 10, 2023).

    New directors have been appointed in replacement of members whose terms are expiring in 2020. We thank the outgoing directors for their service and their tireless work to further develop and promote the arts in Alberta.
