AFA response to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic

Date: Mar 13, 2020

On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak a public health emergency of international concern, i.e. a pandemic. For up to date information on the COVID-19 pandemic, please visit Coronavirus Information for Albertans on alberta.ca.

The Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) is aware that Alberta’s artists and arts organizations may be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are committed to supporting members of the arts community who may be affected by the outbreak. As this is a quickly evolving situation, we are currently assessing what the potential impacts may be to our grant recipients and will take appropriate action to minimize disruptions to the organizations and individuals who rely on AFA funding.

Immediate questions or concerns regarding a pending or existing grant should be directed to your AFA grant consultant. General questions regarding AFA funding or support can be directed to afacontact@gov.ab.ca. Any other concerns regarding the impacts of this situation, unrelated to the AFA, should be directed to the appropriate authority (such as Alberta Health). Visit the link above for more information.

As an agency of the Government of Alberta and with our stakeholders and the general public’s health and well-being of top priority, the AFA will continue to support and adhere to the advice and direction provided by government and health officials and we encourage our stakeholders and clients to do the same. We will continue to be responsive and share any information that is pertinent to Alberta’s arts sector.
