Junior Museum Skills Workshop: Bug Pinning

Did you know that March 14 is Learn About Butterflies Day? Celebrate these vibrant insects and their moth cousins with the Royal Alberta Museum! Join RAM, along with expert entomologists from the Northern Forestry Centre to learn about the fascinating butterflies of Alberta.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how researchers pin and preserve specimens for scientific study and display.

This workshop is designed for youth in Grades 5 to 8 (ages 10–14); no previous experience is required. Every participant will receive their own insect to pin and a shadow box to take home. Note: Due to limited space, this is a drop-off activity; parents cannot accompany participants during the workshop.

Tickets are $22 and include General Admission.
