Awards

The Alberta Foundation for the Arts offers three award programs designed to recognize artistic excellence in the literary, performing and visual arts in Alberta. These awards - the Marion Nicholl Visual Arts Award, the Grant MacEwan Literary Arts Award, and the Tommy Banks Performing Arts Award - raise the profile of Alberta's diverse arts scene throughout our province and across Canada.

The awards are valued at $50,000 each and are presented in a biennial rotation. Nominations for the May 1, 2010 deadline will be accepted beginning in January 2010.

Marion Nicholl Visual Arts Award

This Award recognizes an individual Albertan who has made an outstanding contribution to artistic excellence in the visual arts over a significant period of time. The value of the award is $50,000.

This Award recognizes an individual Albertan who has made an outstanding contribution to artistic excellence in the literary arts over a significant period of time. The value of the award is $50,000.

Scholarships

The Alberta Foundation for the Arts and Alberta Culture and Community Spirit offer three scholarship programs designed to support the development of young Albertans in the literary, performing and visual arts. The deadline for all three scholarship programs is May 1 annually.

Grant MacEwan Literary Arts Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts to two students who demonstrate talent and potential along with clear educational or training goals in the literary arts. Two scholarships are awarded annually to two young Albertans 25 years of age or younger. The value of each scholarship is $5000.

Queen's Golden Jubilee Scholarship for Performing Arts

This scholarship is awarded by Alberta Culture and Community Spirit to a student who demonstrates talent and potential along with clear educational or training goals in the performing arts. One scholarship is awarded annually to a young Albertan 25 years of age or younger. The value of the scholarship is $5000.
