ABOUT THE AFA
Our Vision
The Alberta Foundation for the Arts sees an Alberta where a vibrant arts community inspires creativity and innovation and is part of the fabric of how we live and work.
Our Mission
The Foundation exists to fund, encourage, and support the development of arts as a valuable contributor to quality of life in Alberta, and to maintain and expand the AFA art collection as a strategic resource for all Albertans.
Board Code of Conduct
The AFA Board of Directors operate under a Code of Conduct that reflects a commitment to the AFA's values and provides a framework to guide ethical conduct in a way that upholds the integrity and reputation of the agency.
Strategic Plan
The Alberta Foundation for the Arts develops a three-year Strategic Plan and will refresh it on an annual basis within the context of the Ministry Business Plan for the funding of programs for the development of the arts in Alberta.
Mandate and Roles
The Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) Act establishes the AFA board and members as a provincial corporation, describes their responsibilities and accountabilities, and mandates the board to support and contribute to the development of, and to promote the arts in Alberta, and to collect, preserve and display works of art by Alberta artists.
The roles of and relationships between members of the AFA Board of Directors, the Minister of Alberta Culture, and designated department representatives are clearly defined in their work to fulfill the AFA mandate.
